Eboni
A few months back I joined engineering team of four girls, and we competed in a chatbot competition for Facebook. We spent the next month creating an idea and designing our chat that in some was needed to help our community. We came up with the idea of Eboni a chatbot that will help young professionals of color in the workplace environment. Eboni will help provide references and advice and directions and how to conduct yourself and thrive in and out of the business.

After submitting a chatbot we were chosen as semi-finalists and were flown down to California to Facebook headquarters to continue in the competition. In Menlo Park, we competed in a 2 day "hackathon" where we designed a video game that went along with our chatbot.
My experience at facebook was unbelievable. I was able to network with real facebook employees and make some great connections. My team won the top prize and was awarded the " Best Social Value" award.
One of our biggest accomplishments was being interviewed by Channel 3!
Our Chatbot Eboni brought us a lot of exposure and attention. We got the opportunity to pitch Eboni to many audiences and business partners! Many people were reaching out to using, wanting to be apart of the great thing we had created.
As we grew, we received opportunities to pitch more and more. These events help us to practice or pitches and gain so much experience!
In the video, we were lucky enough to be invited by Upward, a Co-working space in hartford.

Not only was I able to explore a part of the world I had yet to venture, I got to design a chatbot that will potentially help people of color who might not necessarily have the same resources as most. Eboni will help youth of color navigate and thrive in their first internships and beyond as the explore the corporate world.
